Frequently Asked Questions
Polyester insulation traps still air within its fibre structure, slowing heat transfer. It also provides good acoustic performance and is often chosen because it is comfortable to handle compared with more irritating fibres.
Polyester is classified as a combustible material, so fire performance depends on the specific product and how it is installed. Products are tested to standards such as ISO 9705: 1993 and must be used in compliance with Building Code requirements, including maintaining clearances around heat sources and electrical components.
Polyester fibres are naturally moisture-resistant and typically absorb very little moisture under high humidity. However, insulation is not a solution for water ingress, and any moisture issues must be fixed at the source so insulation can perform properly.
Our polyester insulation is made using 45% previously recycled fibre from post-consumer recycled PET plastics.
